The Ph.D. in Prosthetics and Orthotics is designed primarily for motivated clinicians, rehabilitation professionals and educators. Students interact and learn from experienced clinicians and researchers with a broad range of backgrounds and interests, and receive training in research and laboratory methods. The course encourages and fosters the development of life-long learning as well as mentorship between students and faculty. Students have opportunities to investigate in areas that are unique to their interests through matching with a faculty mentor.


Our program is offered through a combination of a distance learning and on-campus format. Scholarship opportunities for highly qualified applicants are available.

Admission Requirements
  1. Hold a Master’s degree / Bachelor’s degree in prosthetics/orthotics or a related field that is accredited by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation or equivalent governing body
  2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or equivalent
  3. English Proficiency Examination score as the requirement of Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University

IELTS  – at least 6.0 [Speaking 6, Writing 6]

TOEFL iBT – at least  79 [Speaking 23, Writing 19]

MU GRAD Plus – at least 90 [Speaking 12, Writing 12] 

4. Research proposal and/or publication in prosthetic/orthotic or related fields

All required courses are lecture courses teaching through online platform. Elective courses offer both lecture and practice classes depending on your selection.

Education Scholarships and Awards
Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Faculty of Graduate Studies provides scholarships and awards to motivate our graduate students to pursue their studies. Scholarships have different conditions of support and include;

1. Suggest estimated living allowance in Thailand is 12,000-15,000 Baht/Month (400-500 USD/Month)*
2. Scholarships shall be limited. Applicants must prepare all required documents before submitting an application. If the applicant cannot submit any of the required document, the application shall be considered invalid
